Coming October the Government is launching an activating strategy for people suffering from dementia.
This was announced by Parliamentary Secretary (P.S.) Franco Mercieca.
Dementia, according to expert Dr Charles Scerri, costs the nation between €60 to €90 million a year. This includes not only the treatments both government and private, but also aspects such as work time lost in caring for patients with dementia.
In Malta there are 5200 persons suffering from dementia, with the amount expected to increase to 14000 in 25 years.
