Mariyana Kirilova Petrova, 21 of Bulgaria was handed a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to petty theft.
Inspector Kylie Borg stated that the Bulgarian national who has no fixed address, attempted to steal the wallet of Carmen Colombo. The wallet contained the victim's Cashlink cards and €80 in cash. The officer informed the court that the accused collaborated with the police and admitted to the charges.Magistrate Neville Camilleri handed Petrova a month's jail term suspended for a year.

Two charged with stealing from Lidl
Two young men were placed under a two year probation order after pleading guilty to stealing from the Lidl outlet in Santa Venera.
Clayton Spiteri, 26 of Zabbar and Dario Camilleri, 27 of Qrendi admitted to stealing over €3000 from the Lidl shop. The two were apprehended on the 23 August, however the theft had been ongoing for a number of months.
Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona placed Spiteri and Camilleri under a two year probation term and ordered that each of them pays back €1500 in damages. The money has to be repaid within a year.
Inspectors Geoffrey Azzopardi and Robert Vella prosecuted while lawyers Carm Mifsud Bonnici and Joseph Arrigo appeared for the accused.

Nigerian conditionally discharged
18-year-old Nigerian national Godwin Frank, was conditionally discharged after pleading guilty to injuring a fellow migrant at the Marsa Open Centre.
Inspector Spiridione Zammit explained how at around 8:30 pm on 12 August, an argument erupted between two migrants inside the open centre. This escalated into a fight during which the accused punched Soumalia Issa in the face. Issa suffered a fractured nose.
Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona handed the accused a 12 month conditional discharge and warned the Nigerian not to get involved in any brawls.
Lawyer Yana Micallef Stafrace appeared for the accused.

Charged with handling stolen goods
Joseph Camilleri, 43 of Zabbar was conditionally discharged after pleading guilty to handling stolen property.
The prosecuting inspectors explained how the police found stolen items in the man's keeping. Camilleri, who works as a store keeper claimed he was nawafe the items were stolen.
The defence lawyer and the prosecuting officer agreed that Camilleri was no seasoned criminal. Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona argued that handling stolen property is no petty offence and the accused should understand the consequences of his action.
Joseph Camilleri has been handed an 18 month conditional discharge.
Lawyer Franco Debono appeared for the accused.

Man used stolen tax disk to evade license
Stephen Borg, 36 of B'Kara was arraigned in court over charges of using a stolen road licence disk and breaching bail conditions.
Inspector Carol Fabri explained to the court how Borg stole a tax disk belonging to a Mercedes bearing number plate GBB373 and used the tax disk on his BMW AAJ047. He was also charged with driving his BMW without insurance cover and a valid driving license, breaching bail conditions and relapsing.
The theft of the tax disk happened in Qormi on 24 August however when the police investigated which vehicle the tax disk belongs to it resulted that the Mercedes was reported stolen on 19 August, five days before the investigations. Police searches for the vehicle have returned negative results.
Borg pleaded guilty to all charges. Inspector Carol Fabri prosecuted.
Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona put off the case for 12 September for sentencing.
