![Monument vandalizzat]()
Vandalism acts were carried out on a monument in the area known as Tunnara (Tunny Net), Mellieha, on the night between the 1st and the 2nd September.
Writing was sprayed all across the monument. Following this, a press release was issued by the Mellieħa Local Council condemning the vandalism acts.
The Westreme Battery, which is located in this area, was restored by the Mellieħa Local Council between 2007 and 2008, and has been transformed in the Tunnara Museum. From that day onwards, this place has been managed by a local Mellieħa NGO Art Club 2000, which NGO also played an important role in its restoration.
The Mellieħa Local Council is appealing on all those that may have some information about this act to contact the Police so that those responsible for this act will answer for their actions. These vandals need to be stopped so that we can appreciate more the historical wealth left onto us by our forefathers and to give us a chance to pass it onto our next generation.
