Two men were arrested shortly after breaking into a residence today in Triq il-Mitħna, Żebbuġ.
The men were caught red-handed by the Qormi District Police minutes after they were informed that two persons were breaking into a house at about 7.15 a.m.
Upon receiving the report, a sergeant and constable rushed to the scene where, however, they initially did not find anything suspicious.
The two police officers, nevertheless, did not lose heart and began examining each door until they came across one which had suspicious tool marks next to its lock.
Although the sergeant did not see anyone inside when he looked through the residence’s letter box, he trusted his instinct and forced the door open.
Upon entering, the police officers came face-to-face with the men, one of whom was carrying a long screw driver in his pocket.
The men, who are 44- and 34-years-old and live in Żebbuġ, were arrested for further investigation.
Although the house’s bedroom was found in disarray, nothing seems to have been stolen.
A 76-year-old woman who resides there was at church that time.
