Tourism Minister emphasizes role of tour operators

Minister for Tourism Karmenu Vella stressed the importance of the tour operators in advertising Malta as a tourist destination. Speaking a a conference organized by RTK, (Raiffeisen-Tours-Kooperation), Minister Vella said that this was even more true of the German market. An estimated 70% of German tourist come to Malta through tour operators. Minister Vella said that in real terms this translates into some 137,000 tourists or 10% of the toursts who come to Malta. Minister Vella said that the Maltese product is capable of diversification and said that the tour operators can be ambassadors for Maltese tourism
