Man loses part of his hand in scrapyard accident

A 58 year old worker suffered serious injuries late this morning, when working at the scrapyard of in Kirkop. The man, resident in Msida,  caught his hand in a granulating machine and appears to have lost part of his hand. The police and an ambulance were called and the man was rushed to mater Dei hospital where his injuries were certified as serious but not life threatening. Duty Magistrate Audrey Demicoli was informed and court experts were appointed to carry out an inquiry. Meanwhile the police is still investigating the case.
