Prime Minister to meet Pope Francis at Vatican

The Prime Minister Joseph Muscat will on Monday hold official talks with the Vatican regarding the revision of the current marriage legislation agreement that was signed in the 90's. During his visit the Prime Minister will also have a private audience with Pope Francis. The current agreement stipulates that the local church authority through its tribunals has supreme authority on the civil courts on the nullity of marriages. Dr Muscat had already given details about the government's intention to amend the existing agreement through a verbal note sent to the Vatican State's Secretary.
