The roof of the Malta Competition and Consumers Affairs Authority building will be removed next month.
The agreement which will lead to the removal of the asbestos roof came as a result of an agreement between the Government and Mizzi Group, the owners of the building.
Mizzi group are set to pay for the removal works, which will commence as soon as the permits are issued said Minister for Social Dialogue, Consumers Affairs and Civil Liberties, Helena Dalli.
Referring to a study, commissioned by Mizzi Group, Minister Dalli said that the report backed what she had been saying all along while in Opposition.
Workers at the building had lamented the dangers which could be posed by the asbestos roof.
