Soroptimist International Malta this morning presented two Accuvein devices to Health Minister Dr. Godfrey Farrugia, an event held at Mater Dei Hospital under the patronage of Mrs. Michelle Muscat.
Children undergoing treatment in hospital often require investigation and treatment that require venous access. Unfortunately, this can be very difficult and very distressing especially in small children. The medical devices donated today ‘light up’ the children’s veins and make it much easier for doctors and nurses to insert needles into the veins. These devices are painless and highlight the veins in a non invasive way, thereby causing no further distress or pain to the child.
One of the devices will be used in Disneyland whilst the other will be used at NPICU.
Soroptimist International Malta this morning also launched their International project called the 3E’s; Educating, Enabling and Empowering. Locally, Soroptomist International Malta opted for three topics, health, education and enabling more women in decision making positions. Soroptimist International Malta said that this is a 3 year project, with health on top of the agenda.
Minister for Health, Dr. Godfrey Farrugia thanked Soroptimist International Malta for the donation of the Accuvein devices and also thanked all the non-governmental organisations working closely with the Ministry for Health for the benefit of all patients and their families.
