Muslim Brotherhood supporters have maintained their relentless demand for the re-instatement of ousted President Mohamed Mursi. A further voice has been added to their protests. French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Mursi should be released and called Egypt’s political situation “very critical”. His call comes after the European Union’s top diplomat became the first foreigner to meet with the former President. The EU’s Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton revealed few details of her conversation with Mohamed Mursi. “I also told him in my two hour conversation that I was not going to represent his view because in the circumstance he cannot correct me if I do it wrongly. We talked for two hours in depth. He has access to information in terms of TV, newspapers. So we were able to talk about the situation. And we were able to talk about the need to move forward,” she said. But Baroness Ashton’s second visit to Egypt in 12 days was marked by her denial she took an offer to the ousted president of “safe exit” if he were to renounce his claim to the presidency. It’s a diplomatic move which some believe could form part of a deal to allow his supporters to leave the streets. There was no suggestion of that from the Muslim Brotherhood leaders who said they are planning a major demonstration in Cairo on Tuesday afternoon. The interim government in response has warned that any violation of the law will be dealt with “firmly”. Source: Euronews.com
